Location: Aldeia Numboko, Suco Leolima, Hatudo – Ainaro Municipality [June 6, 2025]
Jesuit Social Service (JSS) – Timor-Leste, through its WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) program, officially handed over newly constructed water and sanitation facilities to the local community of Aldeia Numboko. This vital project brings transformative change to families who have long faced water scarcity and inadequate sanitation.
Project Highlights:
- 6 household toilets built, serving 34 people.
- Clean water access for 154 villagers, including 80 men and 74 women.
These developments do more than improve hygiene — they bring dignity, health and hope.
For many families, this means no longer walking long distances to fetch water. One grateful villager shared:
“We will not have to walk far to get clean water. Our children don’t have to carry jars all the way to the spring. Thank you, JSS.”
With clean water now closer to home, families can focus on farming, education, and other daily needs.
Local Leadership, Local Gratitude
Trifonio, a young leader who helped oversee the construction of the water canalization system, expressed his deep gratitude:
“We are so lucky and feel blessed to receive this support. I used to watch women and children go back and forth just to fetch water—sometimes three times a day. Now, we can plant vegetables and develop new ideas for our community.”
Your Support Makes This Possible
Thanks to generous donors like you, JSS continues to bring clean water and improved sanitation to remote areas in Timor-Leste. Your contribution is more than a donation — it’s a life-changing gift of health, dignity, and opportunity.
Let’s keep transforming lives together.
With continued support, we can expand this mission to more communities in need — giving not only water and toilets, but also a renewed sense of hope.
