New Development Officers (DO) from various Jesuit missions in Asia and the Pacific convened in the beautiful city of Cebu, Philippines last April 10-14, 2024 for a transformative and fruitful gathering. It was meticulously planned with the purpose of cultivating enriching dialogues, encouraging ongoing learning, and fostering strong sense of unity among all DO’s. The proceedings commenced with a memorable recollection with Fr. Jun Viray, SJ on the De Statu Recollection, which provided all participants with an opportunity to deeply reflect upon the spiritual dimensions of their work.
The introduction of the Xavier Network (group of Jesuit Missions Supporters in the World) and the exploration of potential collaborative ventures served as a powerful testament to the possibilities that can arise when organizations join forces and mobilize their collective resources. Likewise, the development officers worked hard to improve their skills in managing projects and become better at writing convincing proposals and detailed reports. The invaluable guidance on administration and financial matters also imparted essential knowledge, ensuring that the officers are well-equipped to fulfill their roles with utmost proficiency. Through the examination of real-world case studies on alumni networks, the participants gained invaluable insights that will undoubtedly enrich their missions and enable them to make a lasting impact.
In a fitting conclusion, attendees were given the opportunity to engage in moments of reflection, evaluation, collaboration, learning, and ultimately a celebration of the rich cultural diversity that was present, empowering the development officers to continue their invaluable mission with a renewed sense of energy and unwavering determination.
