I find myself navigating the delicate balance between humility and passion as I reflect on my current situation at the Formation House. These virtues resonate deeply within me, especially after receiving an email from the rector of Loyola House of Studies. The message detailed the assignments for the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, and I learned that I had been appointed as the Beadle for the First Studies Subcommunity and as a member of the Pastoral Team.
The First Studies Subcommunity comprises Juniors and Philosophy brothers and scholastics from nine countries across Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) totaling 23 formands and 8 formators. As a Beadle in this community, I carry significant responsibility. It often feels like I’m shouldering a heavy container. This role is not easy; it demands both humility and passion. I have numerous tasks, including responding to emails and coordinating with various individuals and groups regarding our activities. Additionally, I must navigate the complexities of an international community with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Beyond my house assignments, I am enrolled in seven classes, an unusual and overloaded schedule. The volume of readings and writing assignments is substantial, making it challenging to balance my time effectively. I find myself needing to put in extra effort to manage my studies. As I work to deepen my skills, I remind myself that I undertake this mission for the people entrusted to me by God. Despite the challenges, including times when I feel overwhelmed and confused, the inner voices of encouragement inspire me to persevere in this mission, everything is for the Greater Glory of God.
