Valerinha’s journey at Colégio Santo Inácio de Loiola (CSIL)-Kasait began six years ago, and it has been a transformative experience that has shaped her perspective on life. From her early days in basic education to her current status as a finalist in secondary education, CSIL has provided a nurturing environment filled with good friends and supportive teachers, making her fall in love with learning and personal growth.
“Throughout my time at CSIL, I have learned the importance of discipline. Balancing my studies and extracurricular activities has taught me how to manage my time effectively, although it hasn’t always been easy. With school starting at 7 AM and ending at 4:30 PM, I often find it challenging to engage in activities outside of school. Yet, the encouragement I receive from my peers keeps me motivated. We support one another, forming study groups to tackle difficult subjects and stay focused on our goals.” She stated.
As she continued explained, the moral and ethical values instilled in her at CSIL are integral to her character. “I’ve learned the significance of respect for others and the importance of critical thinking. The educational approach here has fostered a mindset where I feel empowered to critique injustices and propose solutions, an outlook I believe can positively impact society.”
We are cheerful for Valerinha because through her time in CSIL has been very impactful and fruitful for her, not only in academic but spiritual journey. “My spiritual journey has also deepened through various activities, including retreats, recollections, and sports. These experiences have allowed me to explore my faith and understand its role in my life. I resonate with the idea of “Finding God in All Things,” which guides my studies and personal development. This foundation has helped me develop a more profound character and a better attitude, transitioning from someone who struggled with discipline to a more responsible individual who receives compliments from the community.”
Looking ahead, she has clear visions for her future. She stating, “I am drawn to the field of Anthropology, eager to study human existence and society’s evolution. My curiosity about how people live—past and present—fuels my desire to understand human psychology and emotional resilience. I dream of studying abroad to gain new perspectives and experiences that I can bring back to Timor.”
Valerinha shares with us that, if Anthropology doesn’t pan out, she also aspires to attend veterinary school. She has great motivation to contribute to society by promoting animal welfare and responsible practices regarding animal consumption.
Despite her aspirations, managing her time effectively remains a challenge. The pressure of upcoming national exams can be overwhelming. However, as she explained, “I find strength in my relationships with classmates. We encourage one another, share strategies, and help each other navigate our studies. I recognize the value of consistency in my efforts, motivated by the support of my parents and teachers.”
In conclusion, her education at CSIL has been more than just academics; it has been a journey of self-discovery, spiritual growth, and community engagement. She is grateful for the experiences that have shaped her and looks forward to continuing her education, whatever path she chooses. “The foundation CSIL has provided will guide me as I pursue my dreams and contribute positively to society,” Valerinha declared.
