We are delighted to share with you the remarkable journey of José da Costa, a dedicated member of our Jesuit Social Service (JSS) family, who has recently embarked on a new chapter as a Novice in the Jesuit community.

José’s path to JSS began through his involvement in MAG+S Timor-Leste activities. What started as a simple opportunity soon blossomed into a profound calling, leading him to join our mission at JSS and eventually to pursue his vocation as a Novice.

During his time with MAG+S, José experienced a significant reconnection with fellow Jesuits, igniting a profound formation journey that ultimately shaped his path to JSS. As an institution under the Jesuits in Timor-Leste, MAG+S played a pivotal role in fostering enduring relationships, providing José with the opportunity to continue his service through JSS.

José reflects on his experience at JSS with gratitude, recognizing the invaluable space it has provided for his personal and professional development. From honing his skills and talents to earning a stable income for his family, JSS has become more than a workplace it is his second home.  

His journey at JSS has been marked by a supportive and inclusive environment, where he feels empowered to be his authentic self. Through his interactions with colleagues and fellow Jesuits, José has found inspiration to deepen his commitment to service and pursue his calling as a Novice.

With unwavering faith and conviction, José sees his journey as a testament to God’s calling in his life. His experiences with MAG+S and JSS have reaffirmed his desire to dedicate his life to the Society of Jesus, embracing the path of service and spirituality.

As José continues his formation journey as a Novice, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and support. His commitment to faithfulness and service is an inspiration to us all, and we are privileged to have him as part of our JSS family.
